Piano stool from the traditional company Gebrüder Thonet, Vienna, from the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century. The piano stool is made of solid wood and has a frame with a bentwood ring. The curved feet are held together by the wooden ring made of bent wood. The stool is heavy and very stable. Height adjustable from 47 cm to approx. 63 cm with a long spindle. The seat is made of so-called Viennese wickerwork, the other parts are made of solid beech wood with artistic profiles. In this early model, the seat ring is still supported by cross-shaped wood, in later models these were replaced by metal. The spindle runs well and has little play. The surfaces are darkly stained and coated with shellac. Rare collector's item.
Condition: All screws are tightened. The hand-woven weave was expertly renewed in a Schwerin weaving workshop. The stool has the original Thonet stamp and remains of the paper label under the seat. Based on these remains, the production period can be narrowed down to between 1881 and 1922. The spindle was re-welded at the top - see picture no. 5.
