Collector's items: original bentwood chair from the Thonet company - Vienna, model no. 14 - designed by Michael Thonet. These chairs were the company's best seller for decades and were often copied. This chair comes from Vienna after 1881. The chairs are made of beech wood, screwed together and provided with a bentwood ring for stability, the seat is made of hand-woven Viennese cane
The chairs were refurbished: the seat was professionally provided with a new hand-woven Viennese weave by a chair weaver in Schwerin, and the shellac surfaces were refreshed. The screw connections were checked and partially tightened. The chair is of high quality and in good, stable condition with the usual signs of wear on the surfaces.
There are two proofs of manufacturer on the chairs: paper label and embossed stamp. The manufacture of the chair can be determined from the paper label: Vienna after 1881 - 1922.
