Thonet brothers, antique bentwood piano stool / swivel stool, ca. 1900
Very old original swivel stool from the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century of the traditional company Gebrüder Thonet, Vienna. The piano stool is made of black lacquered wood and has a foot with bentwood ring. The curved feet are held together by the wooden ring made of curved wood. The stool is heavy and very stable. It can be adjusted via an extremely long, well-running spindle in height from 47 cm to approx. 67 cm. The seat surface is made of Viennese fine mesh, the remaining parts of solid wood or metal. The original shellac surface shows clear signs of use. The Viennese braid is damaged at one point but still very stable and well tensioned. Therefore, I have only glued the edges of the damaged area with fish glue, so that the place does not open any further. The braid is still very usable, it is mainly an optical problem. All screws and glues are firm and intact. The stool is provided with the original Thonet sign under the seat as well as the paper protection mark used after 1881.
